500 Gallon Liner Pond is finally looking beautiful. Fish, clams,
frogs, turtles...got a great thing going....water clear..... Now losing Water like crazy! Lost 3 inches in 4 hours! Cannot find a leak to save my life. Waterfall was made with liner covering the whole thing....I have a feeling the leak is on the bottom or side. Does anyone know of a manufacturer of a drop in (fed up with liners) resin pond with these specs: 8 feet long x 3 feet wide x 4 feet deep? I would be forever greatful! |

Turn off the waterfall first, and see if that's where your leak is.
If it is, then you just need to fix that problem... "Jerry G" wrote in message om... 500 Gallon Liner Pond is finally looking beautiful. As others mentioned, sort of, turn off the waterfall, let the level drop, your leak will be somewhere along that line. You can use milk drops to track the leak as they will follow the water flow to the point of loss. If you did not put in a protective layer, rocks may be poking through at any point. The madness may never stop! You will not find a manufactured tank your size. You could consult with local people who do spray truck bed liners. It can be done, but the area must be completely extremely dry. -- Crashj I had the same problems I found that after laying in my liner I had a leak, I just let it leak and I measured the depth till it had stopped then I got in and checked the sides I found that there was a seam in the pvc and it wasn't welded in one place it was about a 1/4 of an inch so I lowered the level and patched it that worked. And my water fall 1 rock slipped on the side near the bottom and cut the liner I had to take the whole waterfall to find it but I did turn it off and topped up the pond to test where the leak was. Had a similar problem with a smaller pond. A few people in this group said to look along the edge of the waterfall. Lo and behold, under a few rocks, the liner had settled just an inch below the water level of the bottom tier This detour let out about 3-5inches per day. Hope your detective work is just a fruitful as mine was. Good luck! All the best, Larry Southern Ontario I had that happen in my stream, settling caused part of the edge of the liner to be just 1/8 too low -- fortunately, in the the desert, the leak was relatively easy to spot and all I had to do was build up the edges a bit. I also have had leaks when a fold in the liner turned into a siphon after a rain or when I overflowed the pond. I used old aquairum airline tubing to prop the folds open before I put the edging back in place and that seemed to solve the problem. |
