Hello,
I am currently using a 9 watt bulb that came with my tank. Whenever I turn it on, I've noticed that my danios go and hide under the power filter. They come out occasionally but seem not to like the light. Should I stop using the light or will they get used to it? Thanks. |

Walk up to the tank, let the fish settle, then put their light on. My clown loaches dash away and hide if you just put the tank light on. Takes a while before they come back out. Dave |

Dave I find that unless I turn on the room lights a few minutes before the tank lights, my "danio tank" inhabitants behave in a similar fashion. I think it's just the surprise of going from dark to full bright in an instant. Just a thought. |

Hmmm, my community tank is in the kitchen and /usually/ the room lights go on first, I feed the dogs, then the tank light goes on. However, even if the tank light goes on first, the fish (which include Danios and Clown Loaches) never really hide - just scatter a little. Mind you, the room is never /entirely/ dark, and they do expect to be fed at that point too! Dave |

I used danios to start up a new tank. At first, they would do what you
said, hide when the lite came on. Then I put the light on a timer, goes on at 7am for 3 hours then at 5pm for 4 hours. Also, I made it a habit to feed them when the light came on at 7am. Now, when the light comes on, they swim up to the surface and dart around waiting for the food to drop in. Probably one has nothing to do with the other, but just my experience. LOL, after reading your message and then thinking about it, I turned the
light on just now (an irregular time for my danios), and they freaked out. They darted from on side of the tank to the other, and then finally hided in the rocks and sea shells. I am convinced that they don't like the "sudden turn" of the lights. Who knows. Pete "Pete Duffin" wrote in message ... I used danios to start up a new tank. The danios also may be spawning. Mine did it almost every morning
when the lights first turned on. Look more closely and see if they are like, doing it and stuff. Bungy "Pete Duffin" wrote in message ... I've now got this little wall that I've put in front of my filter which
leaves a dark area behind it. They don't seem to mind coming out and about now that's there as they rush to hide behind that should they get alarmed. "Pete Duffin" wrote in message ...
