Default PH help please.

Been googling but can't come up with an answer.
Ammonia ok (negligable) also nitrites same but ph is very high.
How do I lower this to the recommended 7.6?

Also how do you grow plants in the tank, do you use a small pot or such?
I did have some supplied from a shop which didn't seem to grow roots and
appeared to be happy floating on the top.
Three small healthy goldfish in a 16 gallon tank, and I would love to keep
them that way :0)

Some plants come with a sinker ring attached, others come in a pot. The pot
plants sometimes float if there is too little gravel / rocks to keep them
pinned.

Lowering the PH, I am not the best person to give advice, Im a newbie too!
I have seen chemicals in the pet shop called PH X.X where X.X = the desired
PH value, for example PH 7.0.

Regards,

Gary.

How high is high?

If it's under 8.0 or maybe (even 8.2) don't worry it...

I'll let the others discuss the fish to gallon ratio.

My wife bought a bottle of 'PH minus' and some weighted weed today.
My scale for ph was at the max 8.8 so have added 5ml and will check the
reading again tomorrow. I am aiming to get it in a readable range.
Will check the faq regarding tank size.
Thanks for the input.
Rog
