Hey Fred, trying to get Carol "reinstated" ????
not gonna happen... Fred Hall wrote: On Wed, 02 Mar 2005 03:46:37 GMT, Aratzio wrote: On Tue, 1 Mar 2005 21:02:32 -0600, "karen" wrote: "Aratzio" wrote in message . .. On Tue, 1 Mar 2005 13:48:05 -0600, "Reel McKoi" transparently proposed: sneck I well remember a person complaining to my old ISP from a dog NG because I posted that some veterinarians are charging as much as human Dr's. It was a discussion about the cost of veterinary medicine. There was nothing said about any particular veterinarian, no profanity, no threats..... and yet someone was offended and angered enough to contact my ISP. I couldn't believe it! Karen.... ============================= I can top that, I recently had someone complain to the email provider (sneakemail.com) I use in my From line. She seemed to think the provider TOS was in effect for usenet posts made through Easynews. Sneakemail forwarded the whole complaint to me and asked me to deal with the problem. That was a really good idea... 'Ratz ================ I wish they would all do that. Many simply send you a polite reply telling you to killfile the offender. The appropriate response most times, especially since most whiners and complainers are clueless about what is abuse. Some one using words on a screen to insult or flame is not abuse. Being the butt of a joke is not abuse. Off topic posts are not abuse. Flooding, Spam, Physical Threats and such are abuse. Some complainers actually change people's posts (cut & paste), send them to the Newsserver or ISP with a complaint. The ISP never bothers to check and see if it's legitimate. No abuse desk with any sort of clue will respond without full headers. Without those headers they cannot follow the mid to the offending post. If you have an example of such I would love to see it. They take the complaining person's word for it. Why would you say that. If the complaint is valid they have to nuke a paying customer. ISP's can tell you some real interesting stories about what slime-bags pull off, or try to pull off where Usenet is concerned. I am sure they can, along with the real stories of abuse. I am sure a lot of stories revolve around the paranoid fantasies that seem rampant upon usenet. I may just end up posting through Google since they ignore all complaints and allow people to post anything. Looks like x-provat already banned me for posting what I did HERE the other day! Maybe he just wants people who READ and not POST using his service...??!!?!?!!?!?! As we have all said, his server, his rules, how ever messed those rules may be. Did you try signing up for the free Shared-Secrets account. I can assure you that Robb the owner does not play games with abuse. He is very adept at spotting the froggeries and forgeries. I have known "Karen", as a Usenet poster, since about 1997. She has had a real problem with a guy out of New Jersey, who uses the nick "Jabriol." Jabbers has been trying to netkkkop her since at least '97, and I'm sure he's the one who got Karen's X-Privat account nuked. Jabbers himself had several ISP's shot out from under him for abuse until he discovered Google Groups. Even forging of valid domain names won't get a Google account nuked, sad to say. |
