Default CO2 question

I was just thinking that if I have a skimmer left from sal****er days, could
I implement it with CO2 since it is a venturi type? Just wondering if that
would be cheaper. But I would not know how to regulate it. The controls for
that might be where the costs come in. I still may just use the Flourish
Excel and forget it. Anyway I was wondering if the idea would work.

Thanks,
Paulette
