Wow, we ponders are going to have to start posting more often to keep up
with the trolls....

I thought I'd plug in my pond fogger (mister) tonight to create the correct
Halloween atmosphere...to my dismay, instead of fog, I'm just getting little
spurs of plain water shooting up...d'ya think it's broken?

$ You can read the Subject lines to get an idea if a thread is pond or fish
related. Skip those that aren't. Pretend they're not there. Killfiles
remove most trolls. Key words work wonders. I think some people wont post
because they're afraid of a nasty troll reply.

That would be my guess also. Perhaps run it in a weak solution of vinegar
if the directions don't give you a solution? Bummer about it not working.

I didn't even get my usual decorations out, just my mini flag with
jack-o-lanterns on it. Am I getting jaded or what? Don't answer that!

$ Vinegar should do it. If not, some Lime-Away or CLR.

I use a highly elaborate and expensive robot for preparing electron
microscope grids at work. The "humidity-regulator" is a £9.99 garden
centre mister.

I find that it randomly stops working and needs water forced through it
in order to kick start the process. I think air bubbles get trapped as
you submerge the thing. Try plunging it up and down quickly while submerged.

We use only demineralised water, any calcium carbonate in your water
would cause big problems. You can buy replacement ceramic sonicators for
them as well. I remember seeing some on eBay.

Never mind "weak" solutions (I understand if you're going to run it, you
_don't_ want a vinegar fog, but that's a less than ideal way to clean it).
If it's submersible, drop the whole thing in pure white vinegar (5% acetic
acid). If it's not submersible, at least immerse whatever parts you can in
vinegar - particularly the nozzle.
