I've got a 2" big clown Pleco in a 15 Gal tank. When I first got him, there
was "Salad" over everything, but now he's cleaned it all up, and there's almost no algae left. I am supplementing his diet with a single algae wafer weekly. Should I be giving him more? Is there anything I can do to encourage algae growth in the tank? -- .................................................. ............................ feed him more than a tablet weekly feed him one or two daily. If you see
that he doesnt eat that much then only feed one. I have a large algae eater 5 inches I think (looks like a little hog), he's 6 years i feed him DAILY five tablets. But I think 2 inches is not that big, plecos do grow a lot bigger. But I suggest like I said above, feed him one or two daily then see what he does. I would not encourage algae if I were you, everyone else is trying not to do that, just the opposite. I would continue feeding him algae waffers, there are also people who have there own veggie recipe for there fish, you should try one. take care. wrote in message news:6noKb.175069$ss5.151168@clgrps13... My Plecos all come swimming to the feeding area when I float flakes
for my other fish. One Pleco learned to swim on it's back to eath the floating flakes. I don't supplement with anything special and I have 8 in 4 tanks. I have lost 3 in the last 9 to 12 months. Those remaining appear healthy. They are competing with Siamese Algae Eaters for algae and flakes. On Tue, 06 Jan 2004 01:41:22 GMT, wrote: I've got a 2" big clown Pleco in a 15 Gal tank. If the tank begins developing extra algae feed less. If the tank is clean, look at his stomach. If it's flat or protrudes outward, it's fed. If it's concave, increase feedings. Supplement with the occasional (once or twice a week) slice of zucchini (pealed and weighed down for 2 days). As the plec gets bigger, the amount being fed goes up exponentially. This is why plecs are in the same category as Oscars and Goldfish, needing 3 gallons per inch of fish. They are swimming food processors. NetMax |
