Wayne,

Thanks for the links. However, to be fair, it's been more than five
years since those postings (if the dates shown by Google are correct)
and the company has [apparently] changed hands. Perhaps their business
practices have improved?

If anyone has had recent issues with this company please feel free to
reply here, as I'm getting ready to place my order for live rock, and
then for a cleanup crew in late January.

Thanks,

Just purchased some livestock from them about a week ago. Not a huge
selection but nice items. One of the bags to the shaving brush plants I
purchased leaked and lost all the water out. The plants didn't look good.
The company when I called them and told them was great. Refunded the money.
They are overlooked by Dr Foster and Smith (Live Aquaria) now and run by
their policys. I would order again from them.

I've ordered from LiveAquaria and from Premium Aquatics. LiveAquaria has
good values, but Premium Aquatics has IMO better quality rock.

I'm setting my tank up again (I moved across the country) and can't
remember where I ordered my rock from last time! I live in the Mojave
desert and must get my rock online. Any advice on whom to avoid? TIA,
Andy

Wayne,

Can you offer some specifics here? My wife and I run a kennel and have
been ordering from Drs Foster and Smith for years and have never found
their advertising, sales, or policies to be misrepresented.

In fact, I recently posted that a sump I ordered had arrived broken and
they replaced it on the spot (and upgraded me to 2-day delivery) and
didn't require me to return the broken one. Now I call that service.

I don't think that too many people have trouble dealing
with them as far as getting what they ordered, and such,
but if you look at the catalog, and look for the
dishonesty, you should have no trouble finding it, if you
are an avid fish keeper, and know better than to fall for
it. Also look for picturs that have been doctered up. The
dishonesty in the catalog is not any worse than the
average pet store :-) I've just gotten discusted with the
amount of dishonesty in this industry. What ever happened
to "truth in advertizing"?

Not to be argumentative or start a beef, but I am apparently not an avid
fishkeeper, I've only been in the hobby for a short time. But I, like
many others, I'm sure, read this newsgroup for information. Laying down
blanket statements that you just have to look for dishonesty is a little
hard to take. In the many forums and pages I've read as well as talking
to others in the hobby, I have been directed to LiveAquaria.com more
often than not. If they are fleecing the public and you feel like some
injustice is being served then I think it's your duty as their
competetor to share specifics, not just blanket statements about lies
and false advertising. This hobby is very expensive and local stores
cost even more, online retailers are becoming more and more common. If
there is a legitimate reason I should not shop there I will listen to
it. But if you are just carrying a 5 year old grudge that you can't get
over, please let us know, I try to find the best stuff for the best value.
