Thank You Mr. Gardener of TFA for putting Irwin's vanity straight into the real light... His lack of respect and total disregard for wild life, not to mention the toddler's safety will be his legacy. Period. I'm not sure you are entirely right here....(maybe it would be helpful to add quotes from TFA or even a link as not everyone here reads the group) but there was a lot about the man that I wasn't aware of until his death.... His TV stuff was sensationalist to be sure....but he has not been the first and won't be the last....but he will be remembered and his insights into wildlfe (especially in Australia) will be as well....in the UK we have Sir David Attenborough.....a different era, a different age and different values....but 10/15 years ago if he'd been killed by a gorilla or any other wild animal where he intruded into their habitat, he would have been condemned in the same way - he pushed the limits....these animals are wild, free creatures.....Steve Irwin probably was a modern equivalent....not to my taste maybe, but still pushing for environmental issues and knowledge..... Anyway the man is dead so lets all share in the tragedy of a man cut off in his prime, whether we agreed with his approach or not..... Gill |
