Default Anyone have Perfecto Sedona fish tank stand??

Jolly,
Thanks for the detailed info! That's what I was looking for. It's
hard to picture how the glass tops in the hood fit together, but still
sounds not ideal.

How did you manage that price w/shipping?? Sounds like a deal to me!
I think right now the 55 gal stand/hood combo runs $300+shipping at

I'll try to describe a little better. My 55 gal tank has a center
brace and I'm using 2 glass 24" All-Glass Versa-tops to cover it.
Directly above each versa top on the tank is a hole in the canopy with
a lip that supports 2 hinged pieces of tinted glass. The canopy and
its glass tops are identical design and similar size to the tank lip
and All-Glass versa tops. When I feed the fish by hand or add
fertilizer I have to open the glass lid on the canapy, then I open a
second glass lid on the tank. Make sense?

As I said I would prefer a proper hinge and like the idea of mounting
lighting to the hood. OTOH it's probably more difficult to remove and
replace a beefier, heavier hood with lighting installed. So despite
my complaining there are plusses to the lights remaining fixed on the
tank.

I also don't have adequate ventilation for my 2x65w CF lighting. I
have to either leave the glass tops in the canopy open or install &
use a fan. But that's not all that unusual though.

IIRC it was a new addition to their catalogue at that time & I think a
X-Mass sale where they reduced the price and threw in shipping.
Remember that Dr's. Foster & Smith absorb shipping charges when you
make a return, esp for defect. So if my problems weren't isolated (I
can't imagine that they were) they would have taken a hit on the item
and be forced to either raise the price or drop the item. Now I'm
just speculating. But the price _did_ increase a month or 2 after I
got it with no signs of lowering or free shipping.

In the middle of my delivery problems I contemplated buying it locally
and taking a refund. I was willing to pay more to just get it over
with. The cheapest price I could get locally in stock was $400 + tax
+ $90 for the canapy. But then IMHO it starts not making sense to get
that model stand or even a 55 gal. Oceanic or All-Glass Modern 75/90
stand were available locally around $500 or so, and the other costs
are either identical or not much more. One of the local custom guys
was going to thow in spray painting the tank back and delivery with an
Oceanic reaf-ready 90gal. But I had several reasons beyond price for
choosing a 55 at that time.

With regular shipping that's probably not a bad price.
