I took a trip to the new Petco with a friend a few nights ago and came home
with 3 new bettas. :-) One is a little white female with yellowish fins, a red male and a blue-green male. They had the most beautiful regular bettas I've seen in months. Only problem is the female is eating real well while the males ignore the brine shrimp and bloodworms. I don't think they've eaten anything since I got them Saturday night. -- RM.... ~~~~ }((((* ~~~ }{{{{(ö |

Sadly, some are fed pellets only and need a little time to reccognize that there's much better food out there. Give them a little time. I would, however, try feeding them some flakes (or pellets) and see if they eat that. I tried that and they wont eat the tiny soft-moist krill pellets or flakes, and I have two types. There was rotting food in their containers. Maybe they need a few days to get back to normal. Someone at Petco really overfed them. It's also not uncommon for them to go on a hunger strike for even a week when new. Angelfish are famous for doing this till death. Bettas, on the other fin, give up and get back to being little piggies long before that would happen. = ) Well I have nice fresh thawed goodies when they change their minds. I love the little female. As soon as she sees me she comes to the surface looking for snacks already. :-))) -- RM.... Zone 6. Middle TN USA ~~~~ }((((* ~~~ }{{{{(ö |

Are they eating anything yet? =========================== The red male ate one brine shrimp last night. That's a good sign. The blue one hasn't eaten yet. He has a bubble nest but shows no interest in food. I feed them 3 times a day. The little female eats every time. I'm keeping my fingers crossed once they settle down both males with eat as well as the female. :-) -- RM.... Zone 6. Middle TN USA ~~~~ }((((* ~~~ }{{{{(ö |
