I must have missed what this is all about...damn.

Me too (confused). We have at least 2 people in here that run a business
and even though they do not put up obnoxious adds, they do have a link to their site where they sell fish and plant related "stuff" and they have had posts where it is clear that they do trade in the business. I'm curious what was so out of line that it got someone slapped down for it.... "Wilson" wrote in message ... He also posted three separate posts that were pure advertising. It was pointed out that this is usually frowned on in newsgroups, but that if he wanted to post a link to a web site or include it in his signature, that would be more appropriate. Tried that and it was REALLY ugly.... hundreds of items... eventually tracked original down and I still don't get it. It is fairly easy to post to the wrong thread and even if it was not an accident I had no problem with the link. In fact, I liked it. It just seems that folks are becoming more and more edgy and less and less tolerant over the past 2.5 years. I'm probably becoming over-sensitized to that. It seemed like an opportunity to say "cut the guy some slack and just let it go". I've always had fast internet connections and have no problem blocking either posters or threads so what people post has never been an issue with me. Mostly I would just like to see people lighten up a bit. As I said, I just don't get it. Then again I'm still puzzled about why my response to a post where I said that "liberal" was not a dirty word raised such a ruckus. DK "~ jan JJsPond.us" wrote in message s.com... I meant to thank you for the response and somehow neglected to.... I am so
getting senile (not legitimately able to make that claim for another 5 years). DK "zookeeper" wrote in message ... dkat wrote: Me too (confused). Jeez I spend a lot of time saying oops! (what's that I hear about violins on
TV).... That was Jan's web site that I thought was so nice.... (which I should have known given that I've been there often enough)... The post I eventually found in reference to the GOOGLE search I did oddly had her link in it. After reading further into the posting I now get that the complaint was that rather THAN give a LINK he posted an advertisement. I use to be able to do multiple things at the same time.... I guess when the eyesight started going downhill so did that parallel processing.... I still stand by my "lighten up" request though. It is healthier for us all. DK "dkat" wrote in message .net...
