its dependant on if your going to go with FO (fish only) FOWLR (fish only w/
live rock) or full blown Reef. if you can give what you intend to make the tank into from the list above i'd be glad to give you more details. kc "Neored5" wrote in message ... Hi
I would like a reef but would more than likely end up with live rock as this would be the cheaper option... thx Dragon Slayer wrote in message ... its dependant on if your going to go with FO (fish only) FOWLR (fish only w/ live rock) or full blown Reef. if you can give what you intend to make the tank into from the list above i'd be glad to give you more details. kc "Neored5" wrote in message ... if just going FOWLR then you don't need a lot of expensive lighting, you
could go with a power compact around 55 or 65 watts and get by nicely, you could even go with standard NO (normal output) fluorescent lighting. with the PC lighting you could keep some mushroom corals and polyps that do nicely with low light and they come in a lot of colors that compliment any tank. a power head or two for circulation and 4" of sand bed. you would need at least 1.5 lbs of live rock per gallon (dependant on density of rock) of tank size for your filtration along with the sand bed but you don't need additional electrical filters. a heater to prevent temp fluctuations and RO/DI water to top off with is also a great idea. that should about cover the initial outlay. kc |
