Still waiting for the Linzea submersible pump to get here, but I have
the float and fountain head support tube already made, and I conducted some experiments on the float to see if it will hold up the submersible pump. The pump weights in at 11.5 pounds. I have weights from an exercise machine that weigh 12 pounds each, and a plastic water or sand fillable umbrella stand will hold up a total of30 pounds of weight under it, and at that weight will be just to the point that the upper surfaces tapered edge at the sides is just at the waters level, so these umbrella stands are more than suitable for a floating fountain float. The center hole takes a 1 1/4" PVC pipe like it was made for it. Nice snug fit, and the umbrella stands locking bushing actually screws down and secures the pipe pretty tight, but I installed a coupling for safety sake as the coupling is too large in diameter to pass through the hole. Drilled the umbrella stand and installed 2 stainless steel eyebolts, sealed those up with RTV, and then filled the stand with expanding foam. Nice and ridgid. I added a couple of pop type nuts around the top portion so I can always attach a light bracket etc to the pop nuts to hold a light setup etc. So far I have less than $200 in the hole shebang counting a brand new pump that is designed for these floating fountains and 100 feet of power cord..........pretty good savings over the cost of a factory ade unit, and its constructed out of the same materials as the factory one is.......
