Hi,
I have a friend at work that has a tank. He claims that his Texas cichlid (f)and his convict (m) mated, laid eggs and they hatched and he has like 100 fry! I have been an aquarist for many years, but I am unfamiliar with this cross breeding. Also, I looked in my book and I cant even find a Texas cichlid or anything related to texas, for that matter. Well, what breed would you call this hybrid situation? Viper |

I am guessing that it could be called a Texas Convict. But I am still
unfamiliar with the Texas cichlid. "Phil" wrote in news:cv9f1l$20vd$1 @otis.netspace.net.au: "Well, what breed would you call this hybrid situation?" A Feeder |

I wonder if he ment a Cichlasoma carpintis. Its name is a green texas
cichlid. I doubt very much if a convict and a GTC would mate. There are also ones called Texas cichlids ie Cichlasoma cyanoguttatum Syn: Nandopsis cyanoguttatum. Again even with these I would doubt a cross mating occured. -- Posted via CichlidFish.com http://www.cichlidfish.com/portal/forums |
