Default Bloated Betta, final update...

Thanks VERY much to the two people that responded to my "should I starve
my betta" thread. :-)

Thanks to the very timely advice from "nippyfish", he is pretty much
back to normal now. I also did a water change in the tank for him.

His belly is WAY down, and he is more active and more responsive to me
now than he has been in the past month or so.

I've got him on a rotating diet of Bloodworms, brine shrimps and Tubifex
worms.

He's not overly thrilled about the tubifex, so is there any other dried
critter foods I should try? I saw dried Daphnia at the LFS also.

Even the snail is not too thrilled over the tubifex. I'll probably end
up using them as cricket food. I feed the crickets that I feed to my pet
frog fish food along with reptile vitamins. Makes for good "gut loading".

Thanks again!!!!!

Can you get frozen foods at the lfs? They come in little blocks that are
still much too big for a single fish, but you can hit them with a hammer
and keep the bits in a bag... My fish much prefer them to dried foods.

Cool, I'll see if they do!
If not, PetSmart in Austin might.

What kind of "frozen food" is it?
I've never checked that out.

Thank you!

I get bloodworms, daphnia and brine shrimp, but there's loads of other
stuff available. They much prefer it, and it has the advantage that it's
already moist - the dried stuff is full of air unless you soak it first.
I have a feeling that many people defrost their frozen foods before
feeding, but I just chuck in the "ice-cube" and they eat the food as it
defrosts into the water. Mr LFS, who is a lifetime enthusiast as well as
running a shop, does it, so i don't feel too bad.

Sounds good to me, thank you!
I'm just concerned since I'm no longer going to feed pellets or flakes.
I want to make sure that he gets everything he needs in a balanced diet.

I suspect that the Betta pellets were the culprit! I did not have
trouble with him until I bought those.

Why would they sell a food for a specific fish that would make him sick?
That's just WRONG!!!

Does the frozen food sink?
My betta is used to surface feeding.
