I;ve recently set up a refugium and put a "wad" of Chaeto in it. I am using
a 19 watt 5100k flourescent lamp about 1 foot away. The plant is full of bubblesat the surface and below, but the area near the surface is turning brown. Is this normal? Too much light? not enough water flow? Thanks -- Russell Jankowski A.M. SERVICE 440-333-4923 |

It isn't too much light, but the surface plant is getting
cooked a bit. I run my lights (same as yours) about 4" off the water, and surface plants die back. The stuff beneath does great. If you could keep it just beneath the surface, none of it would brown at all. I've never worried about it. Marc Russ J. wrote: I;ve recently set up a refugium and put a "wad" of Chaeto in it.
