To the group:
I was wondering what you experts out there would recommend for a 75 gallon aquarium. The Eheim model 2028 or the Eheim 2126? I would appreciate your advice. I also noticed the Wet/dry model which seems a little like overkill for a tank this size. Thanks for any advice. Dan |

DRE, The correct answer would depend exclusively on what you intend to do with the tank. Marine or Fresh? Planted fresh? Carnivore fresh? Marine Fish Only? Reef? If you're looking at sal****er, I'd lean away from a canister filter, as they are infamous for contributing to nitrate issues. In a fresh, I would use the larger one, because, seriously, it's tough to over-filter your water, and this would give you the overhead to make changes to the tank with any worries about the horsepower of your filter being able to cope with it. I ran a 75 with an Eheim pro2026 for quite some time. It was loaded up pretty good, but it was freshwater-heavily planted. It could very likely have supported itself without any 'artificial' filtration, though I never tested the hypothesis. billy |

More overall capacity & some redundancy in case of failure. Also allows alternate cleaning (i.e. one one week & the other the next). I. |
