Default Any experience with "new" style Quiet One pumps?

I've had an old style QO for two years- pretty happy with it (small
size and queit, of course).
Looking for a backup...

Thanks

The new Quiet Ones are a completely different design and not quiet like the
old ones. They are similar in design now to pumps like the Rios and Mags.
However, I do have the new Quiet One 4000HH on my tank and am very happy
with it. I am using it externally and it runs cooler, stronger and Quieter
than my Mag 9.5 did. I actually had the older Quiet One on the same tank
prior to the Mag, but couldn't deal with the heat it added to the
tank....way too much. Simply put, the Mag and the new Quiet One keep the
tank cooler than the Old Quiet One with a cooling fan blowing across the
sump.

Anyway, the 4000HH is pressure rated and has a screwed on intake, like the
Mags. The lower models (I'm not sure about higher models that aren't
pressure rated either) use an interchangeable intake for submergible or
external use. Those don't thrill me. While installing one of those in a
tight area, I pushed against the hoses and pump and the intake adaptor fell
out. Luckily I had not let water start flowing yet. I dont' see it coming
out under normal operation, but if you were to put too much pressure on it
accidentally, it's a consideration....especially in situations like mine
where plumbing room is tight.

If you're happy with your old one since they are so silent and are not
having problems with the loads of heat they add to the tank, you might want
to consider buying another one now while you can still find suppliers with
remaining inventory.
