Default Need Help With Algae Problem

I took a few pics to show this algae problem I am talking about.

These pics are of some fake coral and barnacles that I decided to remove
from the tank.

I originally added these things to the tank BEFORE my LR which was before I
decided to go with a reef instead of Fish Only.

Please see my post in Alt.Binaries.Aquaria for the pics and more info.

Thanks in advance!!!

~Mort

P.S. A bit OT here but is there a way I could provide a link to the other
post that I am referring to?

Sure it is. You need to write it in the form of news:msg@id
where msg@id is message identifier of the post you poin to.
The easiest way to check the message id of your post is to
look into the computer headers after posting it... If you
use Outlook Express just press Ctrl+F3 to get full source
of the post the way your software sees it. The message id
will be in the line starting with "Message-ID:". In case of
your post it is
so the link should be .com
Notice: do not include characters sourounding message id in the headers.

p.s.
How are your red mushrooms growing? Are you interested
in trading them for brown ones or some button polyps?

You mean this guy???

.com

(did I do it right?)

I would be interested in trading for some button polyps but this one has yet
to multiply. It has grown in size but thats about it and it's the only one
that I have. I am assuming this thing will eventually split in two. Is
that correct?

Looks good, but I cannot read this article. The group you post to,
with binaries, does not exist on my news server unfortunatelly...
You could post pictures to some website with photos/binaries and
then it would be available for everyone.

You could give him a little "help" buy cutting his head and leaving
the rest to recover. This buggers are very hardy and, similarly to
Aiptaisia, grow from any tiny leftovers from the base...
There is some website dedicated multiplying mushroom anemones...
Do not remember wich one, but the recipe was to hold the rock
with it "upside down" and cut the mushroom with sharp scissors...
Then you will have some grow from the base, and - when the head
will recover after the cut (for couple of days) and start to attach
itself to new rock you will have new colony...
You can also use SuperGlue to attach healed head to the new rock.
I guess if you never done it before you would better find this
website with full description of the process...
Also, if you have still only one, I would not play with it - give
him some more time to multipy on its own. I was expecting it has
done this already and this is the reason I suggested this trade...
Just remember about me when you will be ready to trade :-)

Good luck with your algae,
Pszemol.

Dont worry, we'll have plenty of opportunities to trade I am sure.

How soon can I expect this guy to split?

I am not sure - only thing I know about this guy it is red :-)
I guess it all depends how much light it has and if you feed
your reef with micro-algae (green water).
