Snails and Hyposalinity Question

Can snails live in a hyposalinity enviroment?

I got a fish (magnificent rabbit) with ICH so I have been treating it in a
120gal tank I had setup but did not have anything in it but 3 emerald crabs
and a buncha snails for cleanup. I was useing Ruby Reef's Kick ICH along
with lowering the salinity to 1.010 and raising the temp to 80-81 degrees.
Well the higher temp killed all my snails which I figured might happen. So
the ICH seems to be comeing under control but I know I need to wait quite
some time to be sure. I have lowed the temp back to around 78 degrees. I am
starting to have a green algae problem since my snails are all dead. So
yesterday I bought some snails from the LFS. I knew my salinity was alot
lower than where they were coming from so I took extra care and longer
adjustment period before dropping them in the tank. Well they ALL died. I
was told by the LFS the lower salinity should not effect them but I am
wondering if that is true. All other tests are fine (ph,nitrate,etc). So my
question is :
Can snails live a tank with such a low salinity?

Nope. The temperature is not the cause of the deaths of the crabs. I
had my tank at 85F last spring when I was trying to keep a Riterri
anemone alive in my reef tank, and nothing died. Except that anemone,
three weeks later.

Hyposalinity is for fish only, in treating for Ich. Don't put any other
livestock in the tank, unless you are wanting to treat more fish. From
the point that water is 1.009, the treatment period starts, and must
last at that point for 21 days. If it goes up even .001 (to 1.010 sg),
you have to start the 21 days all over again. And if you introduce a
new fish into that system, again you have to wait 21 days.

That is how to eliminate ich competely and assuredly. Once done, raise
the salinity daily back up to 1.023 to 1.026 sg. Now you can introduce
snails, crabs, shrimp, etc.

Hi,
The temperature didn't kill your snails, unless you raised it to
quickly from a temp that was maybe a tad to low!, 80/81F is not a
particularly high temperature for a reef or fish only tank, my marine
systems run at 29 to 32C (86/89F) normal tropical reef temperatures,
your low salinity would be part of the cause but I think the main cause
was probably the medication you used, what are it's constituents ?
