Anyone have experience with AquaC EV180 skimmer? I'm using the required Mag
7 pump. Makes nice foam but next to nothing gets up into the cup. I have adjusted the waste gate from wide open which sets the water level to 1 inch below the reaction chamber as per instructions. and I have closed the valve to raise the water level to half way up the reaction tube and it still doesn't collect very much foam at all. air valve is wide open. skimmer has been running for over 3 months now. the only thing I get is a thick crud build up in the riser tube, but not nearly enough cup crud. Any help as to what I may be doing wrong would be greatly appreciated. I emailed AquaC over 5 days ago and not even a reply yet. While we are on the subject which skimmer do you like better, Precision Marine Bullet-2 or ETSS Evo 750? I need short height for cabinet fit. Unit must be out of sump and elevated on stand to allow return to be at or above normal sump water height. I run a large sump with a 10" high water line. Can I adapt an injector like a PM skimmer to my AquaC? John |

Hi John,
I have the EV-200 with a Mag 12. It works just fine, with the gate valve fully open and the gate is actually submerged beneath the water. I'm wondering if the Mag 7 even has enough "oomph" to allow that skimmer to do the job? You said the air valve is fully open, but have you run a pipe cleaner or brush through there to make sure it isn't obstructed? The water level in my skimmer is even with the inner plate just below the reaction chamber. I can only see that plate with a flashlight. I would estimate that the water inside the black box is about 1.5" from the top. You should always clean the riser tube thoroughly, every 3 days. Is your Mag 7 running to both injectors, or does it only have one? This skimmer doesn't have bubbles in the reaction chamber all the time, but does quite often. This varies, especially if you've been working in the tank or feeding. Marc Fish guy wrote: Anyone have experience with AquaC EV180 skimmer? I'm using the required Mag 7 pump. Hi Marc, The pump power is something I had thought about, but the
instructions list this pump for the skimmer, I have cleaned both the injector and air valve regularly. This skimmer only has the one water input which is the injector with the clear plastic cone inserted into it, to create the pressure wave needed to draw air into the system. this tank has an old CPR sump that had a built in skimmer that was powered by a Rio with an air line intake and it put out a much better skimmate than this high tech unit. I think I will try a larger pump and see if it makes any difference. Thanks, John "Marc Levenson" wrote in message ... Hi John, I have the EV-200 with a Mag 12. John,
Something simply isn't set up correctly, and I'd keep trying to contact Jason for the solution. That is a great skimmer you've got and for you to be unhappy is rediculous. I wouldn't even keep recommending Aqua C if it wasn't for my complete satisfaction. Please let me know what ends up being the solution. I'm thinking your water level in the skimmer is the problem, since you say the air inlet is clean and clear.
