Ok here we go 30gal 12x36x16 . I've been out of the hobby a couple years and was always
skimmerless but have decided to use one this time. Heres the deal I havn't made up my mind on a sump yet so I need a hang on. my choices seem to be Prizm (really hot when I crashed) CPR Bac Pac ( I kinda like this one because of the preskimmer.) AquaC ( have read good things but no preskimmer and uses a rio pump unless you upgrade) I plan on ordering something in the next few days so All thoughts and suggestions are appreciated Thanks **********End Of Post************* I want to say thanks for the input so far, I have decited on the Remora. Now I have to decide on if spending the extra $70 for the pro is worth it for future use. Hopefully everything will be going into my 75 or 100 gal with one being a sump, next fall after we sell this place. so the Ques. is buy another 96w of light or go with the pro.( I have an ah supply 96w50/50 sitting on it now.) 2nd Ques is has anyone had the cup drilled? Is it worth it? From what I've been reading the cup should be wiped out frequently for performance reasons. Thanks again guys |

I'd recommend the upgrade to the pro without a doubt.
as for the drilled fitting, I tend to think adding fittings makes the reefer lazy when it comes to cleaning the cup and therefore they are not a wise decision to add. a dirty riser tube drastically reduces a skimmers performance. kc wrote in message ... I go against the conventional wisdom with drain fittings on skimmers. I
added one to my CS12-2 ER skimmer and run the skimmer wet, producing approximately a gallon of skimmate per day. Running it this way makes the neck of the skimmer self cleaning (at least on the inside of the neck where it matters), and I clean the skimmer cup every couple of months just for appearance as the operational surfaces of the skimmer are self cleaned. Running a skimmer this way is low maintenance, but maximizes skimming efficiency and gets continual small water changes when I dump in a gallon of SW daily to replace the skimmate, Mike "Dragon Slayer" wrote in message ... go with the aqua c but don't use a rio. use a maxijet. i can't stress
this any better....get an aqua c. no venturi valves to fuss with. just plug it in and it goes. Customer service is excellent. i had them custom modify the aqua c just a little and they stayed with me the whole time answering email promplty and even though i was a pain put up with me and now after more than a year I am still completely happy. |

If you use the rubber O-ring instead of the set screw, it is virtually silent.

![]() a little noisy at first but what skimmer isn't and it goes away after a while My Euro-Reef is very quite, hardly makes any noise at all. on the other hand my Urchin Pro has quite the 'hiss' to it. even with the o-ring Marc speaks of installed. kc |
