Biological filters enclosed!

Can closed canister filters like some Ocean Clear
and eheim models really act as excellent biological filters similar to a
wet/dry system given the apparent need for open oxygen/water interchange
that
wet drys have and canisters do not?

IME, they're not *as* efficient as a wet/dry as a biological filter, but
they still work well. For example, I have a *heavily* stocked 75 gallon
running off an Eheim Pro 2320, and it works wonderfully.

Also, may I point out that it's not wise, even foolish to post your
personal info, such as name addresses, phone numbers, and real email
addresses to a public forum such as USENET.

Canister filters tend to be OK biological filters and excellent at any other
kind of filtration. I know that Marineland sells a bio-wheel attachment for
its Magnum canister filter. Bio-wheels are excellent at converting ammonia
to nitrites to nitrates. Haven't seen it in action, but some or all of the
return water goes through the biowheel that hangs on the edge of the tank.
Its possible that other companies sell similar products for their canisters.

Spammers use programs to "mine" newsgroups for that info. Then they spam!
SPAM! SPAM!! And your inbox becomes full of diet pills, pyramid schemes,
porno, and virus attachments. People who post their email either do it
because they are 1) niave and don't know better (been there and learned the
hard way), 2) have no choice because they are using a newsgroup service that
requires it, or 3) "encode" it so a person could figure out the real
address, but a spammer's software program could not.

Every news reader program I've used allows you to enter a bogus email
address as the "return address" on usenet posts.
