I have a pair of Angels in my tank... only two of them as they have
mated and layed eggs in the past on several occasions. Anyway, lately the one that I believe is the male keeps picking on the female and driving her into the corner of the tank or just chasing her all over the place when she's out and about... this happens often. Are they getting ready to mate again? What's going on? I don't recall noticing this happening the other times. Any input is always appreciate. Laura |

Suggestions on the optimal manner to care for angel eggs laid in a
community tank...my pair mated on a sword plant leaf On 21 Feb 2004 17:42:43 GMT, (TYNK 7) wrote: Subject: Angel fish foreplay or fighting? Laura Often a "proven pair" (have layed eggs before and are fertilized), will battle a bit before spawning again. This is to assure that their choice of mate is still worthy. If the female is not fighting back at all and is just running away everytime...she may not be "worthy" anymoe and he is trying to drive her away (in order to look for a new). Do you know about how old these fish are? |

Temp. Tankmates? Do you have another tank to use? if so,what size? Have you raised small fry before? You can either let them raise the fry or you can. First tell me the answersto my questions and I can help you more so after. = ) |

I have 2 pairs of angels-the younger and less connected pair mated
(Apparently only seemed less connected...). I have a 110g tall-lots of plants and lots of juvenile botias. There are 2 pairs of dwarf cichlids and a pair of dwarf gouramies. 4 active pleco's that seem quite content with a weekly slice of cucumber. 6 aeneas cats-several danios and 5 aussie rainbows. I keep the temp at about 78. Water changes bi-monthly. Hardness is 8ppm. ph is around 7.7 and ranges +/- .2. I have another tank-I moved the leaf witht he eggs to that location using water from the "mother" tank. I added m-blue. My result was all eggs turned white and were tossed. I wonder what I might try differently to preserve the eggs. I think the mother tank with all the loaches is a hopeless environment. I plan to add a 2x24" piece of glass to the tank as an alternative breeding medium. Other suggestions are sure welcome! j On 22 Feb 2004 02:01:55 GMT, (TYNK 7) wrote: Subject: Angel fish foreplay or fighting? When you transfered the eggs to another tank...did you have an airstone running *near*, not under, the eggs? I ask because you didn't mention it. This simulates the parent's fanning of the eggs. A very important part of the hatching process. Also, if all eggs turned opaque right away, they weren't viable (fertilized). Often 2 females will go throught he motions of spawning, even laying eggs...but of course they're not going to be fertilized. Did you watch them spawn? Are you sure these 2 yongsters were m & f? |

Do you know about how old these fish are? These are younger fish... I bought them not more than six months ago and they were the size of about a quarter... now the male is about 4" long. Just a few weeks ago they were doing the "kissing" thing and all of that so I am really hoping that they aren't going to quit laying eggs... I'm in the process of getting a new tank ready to move my other fish so they can have the tank to themselves... they are the only 2 angels I have and I would love to actually have angel babies eventually.
