After months of looking I finally found a tank of them. Nowhere else but
.....*GASP*.... Wally World. They just finished putting the new fish in the tanks when I sallied forth into their pet dept. Lo and behold, CALICO LIONHEADS! I snapped up the best 4 of those critters for $4.58 each. They're resting quietly in a Q tank by the window. I was starting to think they didn't sell this variety of LHs in the chains. Before stopping at WM on the way home I hit Old Time Pottery who was having a 20th Anniversary sale. Then stopped at PetsMart for some veggie clips. It's been a productive day. :-))) -- Koi-Lo.... frugal ponding since 1995... Aquariums since 1952 My Pond & Aquarium Pages: http://tinyurl.com/9do58 ~~~ }((((o ~~~ }{{{{o ~~~ }(((((o |

Good luck with the newbies ========================== As soon as they leave the Q tank I'll get some pics. The memory stick reader on my PC pooped out. I'm hoping that can be fixed before I download any more pics to my PC from my camera. Another problem is I can't figure out how to take close ups using the darn thing. :-( Between being slightly blurry and slightly overexposed - add the flash off the glass,.... well..... you can see the problems getting good snaps of my fish. They're doing great BTW. All 4 look fine and healthy. They enjoyed some thawed blood worms for breakfast, Hikari Gold pellets for lunch and a slice of orange for dinner. I don't believe I'm going to have any problems with them. -- Koi-Lo.... frugal ponding since 1995... Do you do any special preparation of the orange? It doesn't pollute the water? ======================== I slice it about 1/4" thick and drop it in. Later I remove the rinds. No other prep except to WASH it under cold water to remove any pesticides that may be on the rind. In the tanks with veggie clips I remove the rind and let the clip hold it at the surface. They love oranges. I do the same with zucchini and cucumber but they're nowhere near as nuts for those. Oranges provide them with Vitamin C which may be gone from the foods we buy them at the store, and calcium. They will keep at the orange slice until it's gone (except for any rind you leave on it). Remove the rind. -- Koi-Lo.... frugal ponding since 1995... Aquariums since 1952 My Pond & Aquarium Pages: http://tinyurl.com/9do58 ~~~ }((((o ~~~ }{{{{o ~~~ }(((((o |
