Ok, I just put them in their tank about 1/2 hour ago, right off the bat they
started to fight, kind of paired off, there were a few that managed to stay clear of the fighting, mostly two white ones fighting, two red ones fighting, and the one I was worried about most because she is smaller I think younger, is fine no one seems to be bothering her much at all she is just swimming along like she don't notice them. Now my question is I have done a lot of reading and know they have to decide who is boss and what order they go in, but how long is to long to be fighting, I read a week, but I would think a week of fighting is to much, for someone to not get really hurt, I put some real plants in the tank and filled it in with fake ones so there were some extra places for each of them, any suggestions on making this any easier. and if they fight to much should I separate them and how much is to much Nik |

I don't think they really stop harrassing each other - that's why that
have the pecking order thing. Mine never did - I just got sick of having an adrenalin rush everytime I looked at them nipping at each other, it was shortening my life, so I decided to take them back and switch for an oscar... it was a wise choice I feel... |

Well i fed them last night and turned the lights off to give them time to adjust, just turned it back on now to feed them, they all seemed to be fine, no war wounds, a little nipping when one got in anothers way while they were eating but other then that they look good. So far i am glad i set this tank up, i will try and take pics they look so pretty swimming with each other all the colors, its also neat to see how they act with one another. I think i am going to keep the light off today just to give them a little more time. nik |

Female bettas fighting each other is new to me - I had grown up with the apparently false knowledge that they coexist perfectly well, but like I said it must have been misinformation back then that I had assimilated. Good luck and later! |
