RJ ================== A small air driven sponge filter would help tremendously. I raise the fry in those $10 shallow kiddy pools from Wal*Mart with air driven filters. Then at about a month of age they're moved to 680g pools with a regular filter run by a protected water-pump. The pump is between two plastic pond plant baskets and wired closed. Siphoning the bottom would be great if you can be careful and not suck up the fry. -- Koi-Lo.... Frugal ponding since 1995. thanks for your responce, I guess the bigger the area the eaiser to
clean,I tryed to syphon out but kept sucking out the fry,as they are only several days old. I will look into a small air driven filter, I do have an air pump introducing bubbles to the water. will the filter not suck up the fish??? Rj |

Be generous and get a LARGE sponge filter. Don't run it like crazy while they're small because they exhaust easily. Keep it at one end. They don't like roiling water. They need an area where there's no current. -- Koi-Lo.... Frugal ponding since 1995. wrote in message oups.com... do you have a name or manufacturer of an air filter ?? ===================== I bought mine from mail order catalogs some years ago. They last for ages if you don't twist them clean. Just squeeze them out in clean water. It was either That Fish Place or Foster & Smith aquarium catalog where I found them. I'm sure you can find aquarium+sponge+filters with a little Googling. -- Koi-Lo.... Frugal ponding since 1995.
