I recently have had a outbreak of flatworms in my 90 gallon reef. My LFS was
out of Six Line Wrasse's, which I've read Love to eat these little pests.. So I picked up a Spotted Green Mandarin after reading online that they love flatworms. The mandarin is doing a alright job I guess...His belly is very full, and I see him eating them often. Is there any other Reef Safe Fish that I could put in there to help the Mandarin out? I'm not a big fan of the Sixline so.. I'd rather pick up someone else. Thanks!! |

When you say flatworms, do you mean the pinkish bristly ones? Because my little tank is full of copepods and bristleworms. Would a 10-12-gal. hex be big enough for a mandarin, anyone? |

I do Not mean Bristly worms, they are brownish/red flat worms.. almost paper
thin little flat worms tiny in size. My female Mandarin is doing a good job.. I was just wondering what other reef safe fish would take out the flat worms.. I always could throw a male mandarin in there too I guess... |

Green Spotted Mandarin was not the proper name of the fish that I added, it
is a Yellow Target Mandarin Goby. I've read online that they will eat these little flatworms and so far she has been doing a good job, but there are soooo many. |

Get environmental paramers in check, and they will
disappear on their own anyway. And they usually don't harm the corals. They just don't look pretty. :-) Wayne Sallee Wayne's Pets Groovok wrote on 9/5/2006 7:48 PM: I recently have had a outbreak of flatworms in my 90 gallon reef. I thru a female and a Male Yellow Target mandarin in there, and Just picked
up a six line as well... I took a couple of the top rocks out and dipped them in freshwater and those little *******s didnt' like that too much... water conditions are actually in really good shape... No nitrates.. no nitrite.. no phosphates... and calcium was right on.... guy at the shop told me to try cutting back on my lights by a few hours each day.. until the mandarin's and sixline get things under control.. I mean.. honestly .. they're not bad like out of control bad.. but they're just annoying..... |
