Yep, I have had them in my tank. They do seem to do better in freshwater
tanks though. I have a bunch if anyone is interested in buying any. ![]() Susan ![]() "Cindy" wrote in message ... Does anyone here use mangroves in their sump or tank? Cindy |

I have around 30 of these. 15 have real nice green tops with leaves and 15
of them don't have the green leaves/tops. (They don't look quite as good as the others since they don't have their leaves yet) All look to be around 8-10 inches or so. They are slow growers. I've had them for awhile and they haven't sprouted up much during that time. Root systems aren't real big so shouldn't be a problem at all in a tank or refugium. I'd like to sell them all together if possible but am opened to offers ![]() these to be the red mangroves but am not 100% sure. LMK if you or anyone is interested. Be careful with the mangroves you use. The three of them are very strong
and their roots can break havoc in your tank, watch for leaks. There are many species of small plants that may be suitable to any tank. Mangroves are not salt obligates, they will do fine in any water. In the field they flourish in sal****er or brackish waters because they encounter less competition. Nevertheless, they can grow big, I mean BIG. Careful! iy "Cindy" wrote in message ... Does anyone here use mangroves in their sump or tank? Cindy |

In one of the articles I read about using them, it said to pinch back most of the leaves so they don't get too big, and prune the roots when they start getting large and tangled. |

![]() "Cindy" wrote in message ... Does anyone here use mangroves in their sump or tank? Cindy tried but they need TOO much light if ya could have the thing hanging out a window in the sun you'd be laughing hey! even a sky light would kick ass small ones just don't suck the nitrates and phosphates enuf and large ones are.... large. I gave up but the theory is sound....... have a monsteria delicio in a cichlid tank, and duckweed/taro in me ponds so thats enuf for me. mangroves remain like algae scrubbers interesting but only really for the sake of being interesting and fun to muck around with |
