Default floating snail

I have this new snail. He was fine for about 6 weeks and now he is boyant.
He is still alive as when I take him out and put him in a glass with shallow
water so he doesn't float, he walks around the glass. I can't exactly keep
him in the big tank where he can't eat or clean or anything. Why is he a
floater now?

If you are talking about an apple snail/mystery snail they will do that
sometimes, i have one who has been floating for a couple days, last month he
floated for a week, at least any time i checked on him he would be floating.
Here is a page that will let you know just about every thing you need to
know about them.

Yep, that's my snail. Well okay, I'll put him back in the tank. I thought
he was dying. This information said they can come to the surface if they
feel there is not enough oxygen, I'm not sure that includes the floating as
part of this need. I have plenty of water circulation from my 3-stage
filter, I would think it is enough for a snail. We'll see what happens.

In the time i have kept apple snails i have had one die and he fell out of
his shell, both of my black ones are now floating , maybe its this time of
year who knows, they are strange. Wait till they start leaving egg sacks all
over the top of your tank, i have over 100 baby apple snails in my tank now.

Okay, I don't know much about snails. But can snails give live eggs when
they are alone? I've had this one 6-7 weeks alone, he is the only one in
the tank. Will it still do eggs? Yikes. And, it was on the tank floor a
little while yesterday, today it is floating in the current of my filter
hanging half way out of its shell.

Well some snails can do it alone but apple snails need a male but can hold
sperm for several months from a male if they have been in contact with one
(at the store) if yours is alone and has no eggs soon then you are safe.

Yeah mine is hanging out of his sell also, try putting some alge tabs in
with him/her, if it was moving last night then dont worry its fine. Also
what temp is your tank?
