Is it cheating if I put a 55gal Sump/fuge on a 10 gallon nano?

I'm thinking about this for a desk setup at work... I have plenty of
space under my desk...

There are rules for this sort of thing?

I guess the only thing that would be "cheating" would be to claim some sort of
miraculous result in your 10 gallon tank without mentioning the 55 gallon 'fuge.
Something like "I kept a powder blue tang in a 10 gallon tank for 10 years
without a single water change" would hardly be fair.

I don;t know if it was cheating or not, as I did not know there was
really any rules in effect for stuff like that ;-)
I have a 2 gal PICO tank which I drilled and have plumbed to a 15 gal
tank for about 2 or so years now. The pico sets on the bathroom vanity
top, and is plumbed to the tank in the vanity cabinet. Rarely ever
need to fiddle inside the pico tank, since everything is in the 15 gal
fuge / sump. I am interested in how your gonna hide a 55 gal
container under a desk though! ;-)

I forgot more about ponds and koi than I'll ever know!

"Desk" 20 feet wide, 3 feet deep, and about 3 feet off the floor -- no
drawers under it (basically it's really a desk height counter)

Don't you think a 55 gal sump for a 10 gallon tank is a bit overboard ?
Why go through the expense. A protein skimmer and a HOT mech filter
would be good enough. IMO of course.....

With nanos evaporation can be a big issue. With a 55 Gal sump, salinity
(and temp!) will be more stable, and i'll have to top off less often.

I recon its a very good idea
should be a nice stable low maintenence tank
for a nano anyway
and if ya can hide the plumbing (go in and out thru bottem bit of glass)
it will look very impressive
