Where to buy Malaysian Trumpet Snails

I was reading up on Netmax's website (extremely helpful BTW), and I'd
like to purchase some Malaysian Trumpet snails for the new tank I just
set up. The problem is that none of the pet stores around here -
including Aquarium Adventure - stock them. I generally got very weird
looks from the staff when I asked for them.

Does anyone know where I can pick up a couple? Are there any mail
order companies that might ship me one or two?

At both of the "good" LFS's in this town, I generally am treated like
an idiot because I always ask for things they've never heard of. I
want to start my own LFS.

You're getting the looks because they're a huge pest problem is most tanks.
Why on earth do you want these things?
They will over run your tank in months. You'll never get rid of them either,
unless you either bleach the tank or toss everything and start over. = (

I think they are beneficial, although hard to control, other than manual
removal.... not a plant eater, they will keep your gravel stirred, and
somewhat clean....

Hehehe, I thought this too. So I got about 10 from a local shop, who also gave
me the "look", and I did regret it.
I tried to keep their numbers down in the 75g, but without luck. I plucked out
as many as I could every time I had my hands in the tank. Didn't seem to
matter.
Luckily, my Clown Loaches took care of them for me. I swear, if they didn't
have those barbs next to their eyes, I'd have gave them a smooch. = )~

I have gazillions of them, you're welcome to a few if they'll survive
bagging and first-class, if you're in the UK.

My population started out as half a dozen from a local fish shop's tanks
when I spotted they had them in their tanks...

They don't eat my plants, they multiply worse than rabbits, but they do
keep the gravel turned over to some degree. I have them in small
gravel, not the med/large stuff.

My two 3"clown loaches ate all my snails unless there are some hiding.

Lo
