I have a pair of Firemouth Cichlids which have started acting strangely
since the introduction of a new Firemouth just a few days ago. Since his introduction, the old pair moved to a different location in the tank and every time that the new guy swims by, one of the old ones swims up to him and flares out his/her gills. Once the new guy passes by, the old fish returns back to the chosen spot and starts shaking in the presence of his/her "partner". I've never seen them do this before and I'm wondering if this is normal display of dominance? Feedback much appreciated. Mariana to contact me offlist type: grdengrl at optonline dot net ![]() |

Bob thank you so much for your response. Should I do anything special to
encourage them to spawn? I have an add on question to this, where can I find more in depth information on the type of Cichlids that I have in my tank? I am able to find tons of information on African Cichlids but none have the ones that live in my tank, so I don't even know about their background, where they are from etc. I have Firemouths, Convicts, Green Terrors, Maniguen (sp), Red Devils, Jewel Fish, Pacus, etc.... Assistance much appreciated, Mariana "Bob K." wrote in message ... I believe these are the south american cichlids. I have kept convicts before, they are a great fish, very territorial, but they will breed very readily. a single cichlid will try to mate with those breeds if it can't find another cichlid!! I think a google search on "south american cichlids" should give you plenty of info. |
