I'm kind of new at having a reef tank. It is a 75 gallon with a tide pool filter and I have a skimer as well. I have had this set up for over a year now and things are good but I get a lot of red brown algae all over the coral.I think it is stoping the growth of other plant life.Is there something that can be done.

What is the level of phosphates and nitrates in your tank? What is the pH and alkalinity? |

throw some macro algae in the sump and some light, that might help to solve
your problem. Good luck. "touchofnature" wrote in message .. . I'm kind of new at having a reef tank. It is a 75 gallon with a tide pool filter and I have a skimer as well. ![]() Is it crusty or gel like? I have a dark red coraline as well as the usual pink stuff. However, it sounds like you're talking about red slim. Then you need to deal with phosphates and nitrates. --Kurt touchofnature wrote: I'm kind of new at having a reef tank. It is a 75 gallon with a tide pool filter and I have a skimer as well. Both my phosphates and silicates are undetectable and there isn't much growing on the glass. |
