Default Low Nitrates

My Nitrates are testing low. Does that mean a tank is cycled? I say NO,
because Ammonia is present.

Better read up on what a low nitrate reading means Lu! You can still
have ammonia in a cycled tank if its overloaded and in which case it
wil never get cycled and always have ammonia content and nitrate
levels as well as other readings for nitrite.

Your concept of cycled would only really be true and valid if it was
taken from a unstocked tank or a tank with a minimum and I say MINIMUM
fish load. Hard to get any grasp of a cycled tank when its overstocked
to b egin with.

I can't find a test for Nitrites..only Nitrates. I hear they don't make
them.

Well anyway, I change 95% of the water VERY frequently because of my
tank size.

So therefore you overload the tank and think massive water changes
make up for inadequate tank size so its no wonder a tank never cycles
properly. DUH! Maybe you need to tak your issues up with that
stupendous extremely knowledgeable LFS that seems to be able to sell
you everyitng that you DO NOT need. I bet they have relatively little
to no old stock and obsolete equipment left with customers like you!
And yes they do make a nitrite test kit.........and any decent LFS
would carry them.....opps I forgot......... but the key word is
"Decent" if you catch my drift!

You are right. I did manage to pick up a NITRITE test. And they test
ZERO..no nitrites are present. My fish are thriving and happily
swimming. NITRATES also test ZERO.
