When I fetched my orange comet goldfish out of their winter quarters (buried tub) in March 2010, I found that during winter they had produced a single baby. It was dark brown-olive and barely an inch long. A year and a bit later the baby is almost 3 " long but still dark. When should he turn orange like his parents? or might he stay brown? Janet (Scotland) I've had wakin babies change as early as 3/4" and as late as 2" and well over a year old. It is all in the genetics.
