Default holding Auloncara Eurekas

my two eureka red girls are holding again, last time I stripped them after
about 30 days, the fish were definately developped to the point that they
were like little copies of their mum, with no egg sack at all. problem is
when I put them into the bucket full of freshly obtained tank water, some of
them came out dead, some of them came out not moving, kind of limp, just
resting on the bottom of the bucket, or kind of stuck in the surface tension
on the edge of the bucket. they all died in a few hours.

maybe I have some very inbred parents and the fish are coming out retarded?

maybe I will strip earlier next time?

any ideas appreciated.

Hey Paul... They sound like very nice fish.. I have never tried to strip my
Mum's of thier Babies.. I have a 10 USG tank ( about 38L ) I put the mothers
in just before they drop thier broods.. I try to pay attention to when they
first are carrying the eggs and go about two and half weeks before moving
the Mumma to the little sanctuary.. The last four fish I had done this
with, I have great success, four fish and I have just over 100 fry.. I have
lost one of the fry to count ( never seen any other dead little ones yet )
in the last week and a bit.. Lots of luck next time..

Tim...
