The topis says it all, what other fish swim around with your cichlids?
I'd like to get an idea of what are acceptable tank mates. The cichlids I have are still small, nothing longer than 2 inches. |

What kind of cichlids do you have? With my firemouths, I have some black neons acting as dither fish (which isn't working ). MC |

Figuring out what cihlids I have is tricky. My LFS isn't very good
about labeling the species. I bought a 'yellow cichlid', an 'orange cichlid', and few 'assorted cichlids'. |

I bought a 'yellow cichlid', an 'orange cichlid', and few 'assorted cichlids'. Tankmates for your cichlids is going to be based largely on what species of cichlids you have. Your yellow cichlid may be a Labidochromis caeruleus. The orange cichlid can be any number of things from a Neolamprologus leleupi to a Pseudotropheus saulosi female. You need to ID your cichlids. If you had something like German Rams, they could coexist with a number of tropical fish happily. Most Mbuna, like the ones you most likely have, get along with very few other non-cichlids. This also depends on tank size. Look through some sites, ID your fish. ;-) Here's an article you can read if you get bored. http://www.amateurcichlids.com/artic..._control.shtml Some sites to research fish on. http://www.amateurcichlids.com/fish.shtml http://www.fishaholics.org http://www.cichlid-forum.com AC |

I have about 30 cichlids, a red-tailed black shark, and 2 chinese algae
eaters in a 90g. It's not the best place for the shark, but he is a good bottom feeder, lets me know if the oxygen in the tank is ok, and is as aggressive as the cichlids. He's doing good so far, nice and fat ![]() Kelly |

![]() Boesemani Rainbows go well with Rift Lake Cichlids, they like the more alkaline water and are fast enough to evade aggression. -- **So long, and thanks for all the fish!** "MB" wrote in message ... Just about anything put into the tank with my buttikoferi would be
chunks of fish guts within hours. |

My 4" Buttikoferi has been co-existing well with a 3.5" Leporinus. They both have their territories (The koferi can't fit into the Lep's hiding spots) and they often swim together in the tank with only occasional chases along the lines of, "I think I want to be where you're swimming," movement which has been done by both of them. |

With my Severum I had some pearl, blue & gold gourami, some black widow
tetras, a couple of bristlenose, & a large tandanus catfish. I had no problems with them - the severum and gourami were about the same size (~4 inches), and considerably larger than the black widow tetras (~1 inch). I also had some 2" convicts in another tank that I decided to put into the main tank - this didn't work - the convicts being so much more agressive hammered the gourami pretty hard, even though the gourami are twice their size. So the gourami and tetras went into another tank, and now in the main tank it's just severum, convicts & the various catfish. "MB" wrote in message ...
