What are the rules governing the depth of power filter intake tubes
for planted aquariums ?? Put it too close to the gravel and it sucks your plants / fish in. Put it too high and you get poor circulation and poor cleaning. Opinions ?? It's an Emperor 280 filter in a 37 gallon cube. |

Put too low and it definitly sucks up a lot more cack out the tank which clogs the filter - and also drains the tank along way down of you have a leak somewhere. Put too high and, as you say it may not fully circulate the water - also a pain in the neck when you do water changes. Half to 2/3rds of the way down seems to be a happy medium. |
