What is DSB? I've seen this in several posts, never explained. Thanks.

DSB = "deep (live) sand bed"

Default what is "DSB"?

I've heard of as little as 1/2" thick DSB..isn't that a little
contradicting?
What benifits does it have having more gravel? The most I've heard is the
nitrifying bactiera lives in the bottom where the light cannot
penitrate...or is DSB strictly for live sand?
