o2 bubbles?

Hello everyone!

My new 65g reef tank is in its second week of cycling and is growing
brown algea at a prodigeous rate. This in itself doesn't bother me as
it's a normal part of cycling and once everything settles down I'll add
some herbivors in to snack away. What's caught my eye is the HUGE amount
of oxygen that this algae is producing. The live rock is literally
covered with a carpet of bubbles.

Now, I've got a heavilly planted 75g freshwater tank in the house, so
I'm used to things growing in the water and producing oxygen. But this
seems extreme to me.

I guess what I'm getting at is this normal for marine algae to produce a
high amount of oxygen (as compared to freshwater plants)?

Yea, it's normal, but it will taper off over time.

That's exactly the same as what I saw a couple of weeks ago with my new
tank. It did taper off, but if I sit and stare at the tank for a few
minutes, I can see a bubble float up about every 15 seconds or so.
