Default Angelfish, How Long Do They Live?

Hi All,

Longtime lurker, first time poster. I have a question related to
the lifespan of Angelfish.

We have a 40 gallon tank with two Indian Catfish who are very large
and are two years old, as well as two Large Angel's, one white and one
marble color, they just turned three years old this month. We also
have two smaller catfish which are bottom feeders, and they were
purchased at roughly the same time, so they are three years old as
well. What is average life expectancy of these fish. I had figured
about a year or so, but I don't know anything. And of course these
aren't the only fish we have ever had in the tank. We have lost many,
many over time. And of course the Indian Catfish are BRUTAL when it
comes to other fish, we found that out after they were in the tank, so
we lost a few when we got them. mostly guppies and two betas. But
three years seems like such a long time. How long do these live on
average?

Any help and info is greatly appreciated!!

Thank you to all and have a great night!

J

Angelfish typically live for about ten years if you care for them well.

They typically live for about 10 days if you follow the advice of the
kid at the big box pet store who sells them. I know, there are some
pretty knowledgeable people scattered amongst a few of the big stores,
but the one I met yesterday at Petco put me in a bad mood. I grabbed
what I needed and got out of there before I shot off my big mouth.
Driving home, I reflected on how fortunate I am to be able to make
most of my purchases on the web and get reliable advice from the good
people at rec aquaria.
