Hau kolas..well guess my questions are by the wayside now..my female ameca
splendens
must have given birth last night..I thought she had a few weeks yet. oops so
found 3 survivors
sheltering from the cichlids in some cabomba plants..netted them out..didn't
see any corpses,
so don't know how many she had or how many the cichlids feasted on. I'll see
if I can keep the trio alive
and learn the lesson for next time. She wasn't nearly as big as she got for
the last batch..
according to my notes last batch was born 1/24..that would be approx 67
days..assuming the
60 day gestation, seems females are ready to breed again pretty quickly
(don't store sperm).

since they dont have a lot of babies there is a chance you did not lose too many, i would keep an eye out in the tank, one thing i have found is sometimes they are hard to find, i have found some that look to be a couple months old and i do water changes and vacuum all the time, so there may still be some in there hiding, they are pretty smart when it comes to not being eaten. I always try to feed mom good after birth, mine slow down on eating before having the babies so are pretty hungry after.
good luck let us know how it turns out
make sure you crush food pretty small and maybe try some different things for them to eat.

My females were only about 2" long when I got them - droped 6 to 8 fry
per batch. I kept all the breeders in one tank - sold the young before
they started showing their aggression. .............. Frank
