Default Clown Loach Sizes

For all the Clown Loach keepers, I'm curious as to how large I can
expect them to become being kept in my 55 Gal. I've read where they can
grow to be impressive sizes and I understand that they take a long time
to reach their full lengths. I received these as a gift and I'm
concerned about their long term well-being. Is a 55 gal not large
enough, or will their growth be stunted considerably in this tank
size...or maybe a needless concern for now?

Thanks

I had 3 in one of my 55s for some years. How many were you given? Mine
never got larger than perhaps 5 inches. They were well fleshed, happy and
active. They ate everything I fed the "community" and never bothered the
other fish. They kept to themselves.

I don't think they'll outgrow your 55 unless you were given a large number
and they're small now.

It depends on how crowded the tank is, I guess. My clown loaches vary in
size from 3 to 7", even though they all started the same size.

I too, worried about the Clown size, AFTER buying 11 of them. After 3
years, I still worry, but my Clowns have not gone beyond 6 inches
including a pair in a 10 gallon tank, 3 in a 29 gal and 6 in a 75.
Those in the 10 seem no different than the ones in the 75, the
largest, 6 inches, is in the 29. They all eat the same flake food. I
change 20% of the water twice weekly with no additives, so they all
live the same lives except tank size.

I am sure that the large sizes must happen, but not in my tanks, so
far! g

they do grow quite slow, I'd keep up the water changes
not the most active fish really and as long as conditions are right they
seem happy in less than massive tanks
6 foot x 2 foot x 2 foot is the size my clowns do best in
touch wood but never had a prob with them
They get big in borneo though, like a foot or so long
kinda ugly at that size but VERY tasty oily flesh
quite different to most freshwater fish flesh
they are a fan of tight squeezes tho, so yea tank size isn't as important as
water quality
