Danios like the top, Gouramis like the middle... so you could get some
corydoras for the bottom... get a small schoal of them (5 or 6) and they'll
do synchronised dancing in the evening which is great to watch.

Nut, You took the words right out of my mouth. I was going to recommend
Cories for the same reason.

In fact, this is pretty much my exact 29 gallon. I have a male and
female DG, a couple of zebra danios, and 5 peppered cories. I just
added some gold Pristella maxillaris as well and they look really
beautiful against the green plants. I have them because I'm only down
to two zebra danios. With a lot of zebra danios I wouldn't bother with
the Pristella maxillaris.

*Tiger Barbs (maybe)

===============
I would forget these. More than likely they'll rip off those long fins on
the gouramis. :-(

Those all were great choices!

I will admit the tiger barbs were more questionable, but have kept them
in many of my client aquariums over the years with gouramis, in fact
in a personal aquarium, a gold gourami killed one of my green tiger
barbs.

Good luck!
Carl
