Would a couple of Nandopsis salvini be ok to put in my established Malawi
tank?

No, I would not recommend a Salvini cichlid with Lake Malawi cichlids.
The Salvini is less aggressive and comes from Central America where the
waters are not nearly as alkaline.

.. Agreed. The alkaline and the ph the malawiians need, don't do well
with Central American cichlids. And the agressive mbuna would hound the
Salvini's to death.

You don't want to do that, sooner or later you'll have problems
and it's much more satisfying having a biotope tank
