After picking up two humidifiers at the Goodwill store for my greenhouse I
ran over to PetSupermarket for 4 more Neon's and 2 albino cory cats. The fringed tailed bettas weren't $12.99 but $6.99. The expensive ones were some other type of betta with huge round fins, even the females had large full finnage. I'll have to do some Googling to see what they are...... the manager wasn't there and the girl didn't know. -- RM.... My Pond & Aquarium Pages: http://tinyurl.com/9do58 Zone 6. That's a *really* great price (if they're Halfmoon's). Did you google them or would you like some web sites with the different fin variations? ====================== Some websites please. :-) I don't think either of these stores have the right names on these new (for our area) Bettas. -- RM.... You see a lot of this with a lady named "Faith" from her website "BETTATALK.com". I've seen this happen with the last batch of young, quarter size at the time, pearlscale Angelfish. They were labeled "Diamond" Angelfish. I had called several times asking if they got in their pearscales in yet and kept getting no, none yet. It turned out they had a new employee who didn't know those angels being called (and labeled) "Diamond Angels" were actually pearlscales with their breeder's cutsie nickname. Another thing that happens is you might see a new fin variation, or something you normally never see in pet shops, and not realize the "wow factor" it really has. That happened with me the first time I saw jet black Bettas. It was over 10 yrs ago). I had seen 2 males...both black veils, and thought to myself ....black??? No color? How boring. lol That was many yrs ago and black bettas are still hard to find today too. Anyway, here's some sites for you to check out. Make sure you see both fin variations and what they've done with colors too. = ) http://watershed3.tripod.com/types.html http://www.bettatalk.com/catalog_new.htm http://www.aaquarium.com/betafish.htm This last one has lovely pictures, even though they made some spelling errors for Betta here and there. ============================= Thanks for all the info. It is confusing if different people or shops are using different names for the same fish. I'm going to check these sites out. These new $12.99 bettas are really beautiful, whatever they are, even the females. -- RM.... My Pond & Aquarium Pages: http://tinyurl.com/9do58 Zone 6. Middle TN USA ~~~~ }((((* ~~~ }{{{{(ö |
