I have a betta who has a very tattered tail... I think he must have scraped
it up against the plants or something. Will the fin repair itself and/or grow back? Thanks Kelly |

Will the fin repair itself and/or grow back? Thanks Kelly Yes, it should grow back. However, you're going to want to figure out what he's getting snagged on. If it's from plastic plants, that's easily fixed. Take them out, find the sharp edge/s and file down gently with some fine sand paper or a nile file. Do keep his water clean and warm. This will help in him heal up faster. Keep an eye on the ends of his fins. Look for signs of fin rot or fungus. Most won't get a secondary infection, but it's always a good idea to keep a close eye on those with injured fins. |

I took the plastic plants out, and I'm going to try and find replacements
that are a little more soft edged. I came home today and his top fin is now frayed as well sigh. So I decided to ditch the plants. I put in an extra jar for him to hide in.... everything else in the tank has smooth edges now. Unless he is getting his fins tied up in the intake tube of the filter system, there's not much I can do about that. Or is there? Kelly "TYNK 7" wrote in message ... Or is there? || || Kelly I've got a betta, in a 5g with 2 ADFs, they love the tank... but one thing about ADFs, they have a tendancy to jump out when surfacing for air... so we lower the water about 1.5" from the top.. this creates alot of noise when filter is kicking at 100%.. So what I do to slow down the flow, is pull up on the intake tube, just enough to slow the flow... Take a look at your filter and if you can, gently pull up on the intake tube and see if that doesn't slow things down a bit... it also lessens the vacuum and if he IS getting caught inthe intake tube, that can help... Mine pulled so hard, I took a peice of sponge, cleaned it, and stuffed it into the basket that covers the intake tube... I didn't totally block it, there's a 1/4" area at the top that is open... nothing actually blocks the flow, just slows it down to more managable flow... -- RedForeman ©® fabricator and creator of the ratbike streetfighter!!! ========================== 2003 TRX450ES 1992 TRX-350 XX (For Sale) '98 Tacoma Ext Cab 4X4 Lifted.... ========================== ø¤°`°¤ø,¸¸¸,ø¤°`°¤ø,¸¸¸,ø¤°`°¤ø,¸¸,ø¤°`°¤ø,¸¸¸,ø¤° `°¤ø,¸¸,ø¤°`°¤ø ((((º`·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸.·´¯`·...¸((((º ·´¯`·.¸. , . .·´¯`·.. What are his tank mates, if any? Please also indicate the gender of
all the fish if you know it. Evan |
