I heard of both, boil it, then cool it, or just throw it raw. So is there
an argument for making either method better than the other? Aside from a few young-adult johanni's the only other residents are a 7 in. pl*co and a yellow tail 6in botia (loach). |

you can boil it to help it sink, or use it raw with a veggie clip attached
to the inside of the tank... I usually just skewer a peice of zuckinni and stick it in the substrate, and stab it into the UGF plate.... the pl*co finds it within seconds, and the other eat off the backside... either way is good, sorta depends on your residents and how they would like to be fed... as long as it's clean, it's food... I left the remains of a piece of lettuce in the trash and the next day that little leftover leaf was causing a huge stink in the kitchen. |

It may take several tests to see how they like it, and even skipping a feeding to spark their interests... My, at the time, 5" pl*co didn't need any nudging, he latched onto it seconds after it hit the water raw... it was floating on the top of the water, and there was jaws upside down locked onto the zucchini... ever since, I've rigged a way for him to get it without the calisthenics whatever works, works huh? |

I've been feeding my fish lettuce, cucumber and zuchinni without issues of decay. The veg doesn't usually stay there long enough to decompose. I have found however that although it sinks better cooked, my fish seem to prefer it uncooked. I think cooked decays a bit faster also but ymmv. -Ben |

I feed it raw as well as cucumbers. Buy some of the clamps with the
suction cup to hold on to the glass and submerge it that way. All my plecos go crazy over it, even the little bitty ones. In the fry tanks just use a small piece because it will get funky after 3 or 4 days, just watch it and pull it out if necessary.
